Eyelid skin tags
Skin tags are a very common complaint in dermatology. They are usually harmless, benign lesions but may be a nuisance if they get caught on clothing, jewelry, or hair trimmers. They also can be cosmetically bothersome to patients, particularly when they are present in visible areas such as on the eyelids. At OC MedDerm, our dermatologists are well trained to remove such bothersome lesions in a sterile, pain-free way with minimal scarring. Eyelid mole removal
Benign moles can be present anywhere on the skin. Patients may present with benign moles on the eyelids. Surgical excisions around the eyelids must be performed carefully to prevent any cosmetic or functional impairments of the eyelids. At OC MedDerm, our dermatologists are well trained to perform excisions around sensitive areas such as the eyelids. After performing any excision of a pigmented lesion, our dermatologists will send the sample to be microscopically analyzed to confirm the diagnosis. Eyelids are a common location for milia. Milia are small cysts containing keratin on the skin. They are benign lesions but can be cosmetically bothersome to patients. At OC MedDerm, our dermatologists are able to remove unwanted milia. Milia may be removed manually with extraction or if many are present can be removed using a laser. Treatment modality will be determined on a case by case basis following full evaluation. The above photos depict before and after images of one of our patients following eyelid milia treatment.
Eyelid xanthelasmas are a common skin finding. Medical considerations for eyelid xanthelasmas are discussed here. The above photos depict before and after images of one of our patients following xanthelasma removal on her upper eyelid.
Eyelid cysts are also very common findings in dermatology. Various different eyelid lesions can present as a cystic lesion. These include, but not limited to: chalazions, styes, hidrocystomas, epidermal cysts, or even cancer. Eyelid cysts should be evaluated by a dermatologist to determine the type of lesion present. If deemed to be benign by your dermatologist, these lesions can be removed for cosmetic reasons as well. The above photos depict before and after images of one of our patients following hidrocystoma removal on her eyelids.
