Latisse Products

Latisse solution is indicated to treat the thinning of the hair (hypotrichosis) of the eyelashes by increasing their growth, length, thickness, and darkness.

What is the active ingredient in Latisse and is this a new product to medicine?

The active ingredient is bimatoprost 0.03% which is FDA approved and has been in medical use for a decade. Just like botox, it was approved for medical use years before it was for cosmetic use.

How does bimatoprost (Latisse) work?

The exact mechanism of action is unknown. However, it is believed to affect the growth (anagen) phase of the eyelash hair cycle in 2 ways: it increases the number of hairs in the growth phase and increases the length of the phase itself.

How is Latisse used?

It is very easy and used just once every night. The solution bottle comes with 60 disposable applicators. You simply place one drop of the solution on the applicator tip and draw the applicator across the skin of the upper eyelid at the base of the eyelashes. It is not applied inside of the eye.

How soon will I see results?

The onset of the effect of Latisse solution is gradual. In the clinical trial, the majority of Latisse users saw significant improvement by 2 months.

What if I stop using Latisse?

The eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over the course of several weeks to months.

Who can prescribe Latisse?

Latisse is available by prescription only. It is distributed at some physicians’ offices. Pharmacies are allowed to dispense it only with a valid physician’s prescription. Retail on the internet is illegal and not safe. Do not take any risk with your eyes and beauty by using unknown distributors.

What are the possible side effects of using Latisse?

The possible side effects after using Latisse are mild irritation and eye redness. These are rare reported side effects.

How is Latisse different from other eyelash extenders?

Only Latisse has been studied and approved by the FDA for the treatment of hypotrichosis to grow eyelashes. Other products are eyelash conditioners and are not true stimulators of hair growth. Furthermore, other products are not sold as medication so the possible long term side effects of those types of products are not under supervision and are therefore not reportable.

Is Latisse safe and effective?

Before the FDA approval of this product, the safety and effectiveness of Latisse were proven in a clinical trial. However, you must consult the physician before starting this product. That is why the distribution of this product on the internet is illegal.
