What is LipoDissolve?
LipoDissolve is a non-surgical procedure of injecting a combination of homeopathic agents and FDA approved medications directly into the fatty tissue to breakdown the fat cell wall. This allows the fat that is being stored in the cell to get released, and is taken by the lymphatic system to the liver where it is metabolized and excreted out in the urine.
What are medications injected? |
Phosphatidylcholine (PPC) - the main ingredient- PPC has fat dissolving properties by causing the fat cell wall to breakdown.
Vitamin B complex is added to help support the livers breakdown process of the fat.
Saline, deoxycholate ( the solvent) and 3% benzylalcohol contained in it, each possesses the ability to dissolve cell walls.
What is Phosphatidylcholin (PPC), is this FDA approved?
PPC is an antioxidant that is derived from natural soy lecithin. It is FDA approved as a nutritional supplement at this time. PPC is found in the bile produced by the gall bladder, that is responsible for breaking down fats in our body. It alters the metabolism of fatty substances like cholesterol and triglycerides in the body.
Can I lose weight with LipoDissolve?
Although you might lose a few pounds after LipoDissolve but it is not to lose weight. It is more for reshaping body contour. LipoDissolve is an alternative to liposuction for treating problem areas of fat that won't go away with diet and exercise.
What are the target area for LipoDissolve?
It is for spot fat reduction i.e. certain stubborn fat deposits for normal weight people or area that resists further reduction after diet and exercise. These include:
Face: double chins, eye bags, cheeks
Torso: love handles, backs of arms, upper and lower belly, inner and outer thigh, buttocks
Skin surface: irregularities that occurs after liposuction.
Cellulite: improve the skin texture and smooth out the skin.
What is expected result?
LipoDissolve averages about 1 inch of fat loss for each 100cc of the medications used. Patient may looses up to 4 inches with the treatment. This variability is due to individual responses to the medications as well as the type of fat that is being treated. Soft fat responses better than Fibrous fat which is denser fat. By treating fibrous fat LipoDissolve will initially weaken the fat cells instead of completely bursting the cells. Therefore will need additional treatments. It’s not a question of whether LipoDissolve will work, but rather how many treatments it will take to attain a goal in reduction.
How is the procedure performed?
LipoDissolve involves a series of injections with a very small needles administered at the target areas over several weeks. Most people are able to tolerate the procedure without any difficulty.
How many treatments will it take?
Generally, the average patient requires approximately 4 treatments for treating fat with the goal of losing 1 inch of fat with each treatment. However this will depend on the individual client and the amount of fat to be treated. Treatments are done every 2-6 weeks interval in the same area, or every 4 weeks in different areas.
Is lipodissolve a new science?
Phosphatidylcholine the main substance used for LipoDissolve has been used intravenously since the 50's in cardiac related illnesses to break down fatty deposits (lipolysis) in patients with high cholesterol, fatty liver disease and heart vessels filled with fatty plaques. These procedures involve much higher dosage than LipoDissolve procedures.
What are the advantages?
Among the many factors that are making LipoDissolve and mesotherapy so popular are:
Safety: there is no need for a general anesthetic
Ease: pain is easily managed during and after the procedure
Control: LipoDissolve can be fine tuned over the course of treatment
Appearance: there is minimal bleeding and bruising with no sutures needed
Speed: LipoDissolve has a relatively short recovery period, allowing a rapid return to work and normal activities; no hospital stay is required
Cost: LipoDissolve has a substantially lower cost than other methods of fat removal
Who can not have LipoDissolve?
Patient with following known conditions are not a candidate for such a procedure: pregnant or breast feeding, Insulin dependent diabetes, History of recent cancer, History of blood clots, On blood thinning medications, On multiple heart medications, History of severe heart disease, active kidney or hepatic disease, thyroid disease, polycystic ovarian syndrome, moderate to severe loose skin or flaccidity, and the presence of fibrosis or adherence in the areas to be treated., Individuals with a known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.
Is it safe?
LipoDissolve has been available and safely performed in Europe since 2002 and over 18000 procedures have been done worldwide. The main ingredient used to cause the fat cells to burst is actually not a synthetic medication, but rather a natural homeopathic ingredient, which has been used intravenously in Europe over 30 years to treat plaques in blood vessels with extensive research showing safety. In LipoDissolve, this same medication is just being used for a new purpose.
Does it hurt?
It appears that most patients experience a slight burning or tingling sensation straight after injections into the affected area which reach its peak in about 45 minutes and last about 2 hours or so. At that point, the itchy/stingy sensation goes away to be replaced by a feeling of soreness that will last for 2-4 days, depending on its concentration, how close the injections were and the amount injected per injection site.
What are the side effects?
The main side effects are bruising, swelling, and soreness, which peak at about 48 hours and then resolve by 10-14 days. LipoDissolve is a no downtime procedure.
How can I decrease the chance of bruising with injections?
one week prior to the treatment avoid blood thinners such as Aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, gingko biloba. Using Arnica or Vitamin K gel 4 times a day before and after treatment decreases the risk of bruising.
How soon will I see results?
Results vary depending on your body type and the condition being treated. On average, clients start noticing visible improvement from any particular treatment session about 4-7 weeks after that treatment. However, in some patients, it is not unusual to see the end result 12 weeks after the treatment.
How long do the results last?
The results from LipoDissolve will last permanently in the area treated. When fat cells are dissolved, they will no longer be in that area. However; new fat cells can be generated in the area treated and in other areas if a client adopts unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as poor eating and lack of exercise.
“Once the fat has been “dissolved” the effect is permanent, however it is up to the patient to ensure that new fat deposits are not allowed to build up through poor diet and insufficient exercise”.
Can LipoDissolve cause uneven fat loss?
No, this has not been known at all with proper procedures. Injections are to be done in small distances apart and in limited doses per treatment. The timeframe between treatments combined with the small doses per session provide the physician with ample opportunity to observe and monitor effects or reactions.
What’s patient satisfaction rate?
It appears that more than 80% of patients are very satisfied with the progress of the results after 2–3 treatments. The treatment has become popular among celebrities. Actresses Patricia Javier and Priscilla Almeda to name a few, have openly talked about undergoing the procedure, expressing total satisfaction.
What is mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is the practice of using microinjections of conventional or homeopathic medication and/or vitamins into the "mesoderm" (middle layer of skin) to deliver healing or corrective treatment to a specific area of the body.
What ingredients is injected?
Mesotherapy injections generally are a solution of various vitamins, minerals, enzymes, plant extracts, anesthetics, medications and amino acids. The ingredients in the solution depend on your individual treatment needs and the desired effect you want to achieve.
What was mesotherapy used for?
Mesotherapy has been used for many different proposes including the treatment of acute and chronic musculoskeletal and rheumatologic conditions, in Pain Management, Sports Injuries, hair loss therapy, Bone Calcifications as well as the latest breakthrough in aesthetic medicine for body sculpting, wrinkles, cellulite reduction, and skin rejuvenation.
How is LipoDissolve different from Mesotherapy?
LipoDissolve differs from Mesotherapy in how deep the injections are placed, how much of the solution is injected, and the intervals between treatments. In Mesotherapy, the medications are put into the skin in small amounts and in LipoDissolve, the medications are put deeper into the fat pockets and more medication is used. The main difference between the two procedures is that with LipoDissolve, results are more certain with each treatment and fewer treatments are needed than with Mesotherapy.
Is Mesotherapy a new science?
Mesotherapy was originally pioneered by the French physician, Dr. Michel Pistor in 1945 for the treatment of tinnitus and later for pain, vascular and lymphatic disorders. His first paper was published in 1952. The French Academy of Medicine gave mesotherapy formal recognition in 1987 and it is taught in French medical schools. France currently has more than 15,000 physicians practicing mesotherapy.
Today, Mesotherapy is used all over the world, including the USA, as a safe and effective alternative to surgery in the practice of Cosmetic & Aesthetic Medicine. |
